Our most active ingredient: Innovation

The value that innovation has within our Merck Serono division is clearly demonstrated by one product in particular: Erbitux® is an advanced treatment option in colorectal cancer as well as head and neck cancer. We have a well-stocked and promising development pipeline of compounds in various stages of development. We want our innovations to help, to cure, to extend life and improve the quality of life for patients everywhere.

Promising therapies for multiple sclerosis
Our most successful drug at present is also highly innovative. Rebif® is an advanced therapy for multiple sclerosis (MS). A new formulation that offers better injection tolerability has meanwhile been launched in all countries of the EU, Switzerland, Australia, Canada as well as in several countries of Asia, Latin America and Africa.

Innovative delivery forms
We have realized that for many patients, what matters is how intuitive, pain-free and stress-free an injection is. We are therefore developing new delivery devices. Two examples: The award-winning injection device Easypod for the administration of our recombinant human growth hormone Saizen® to treat hormone deficiency and the electronic auto injector RebiSmartTM for the simple and convenient self-administration of Rebif®.

The over-the-counter drugs from our Consumer Health Care division represent innovations that relieve complaints, make daily life a little easier and give patients peace of mind. For example Femibion®, which now helps to rule out micronutrient deficiencies more reliably.
